Is it safe to repair office equipment using manual from an online library?

Does anyone here know how to repair office equipment? We moved into a new office a couple of days ago and pulled an old HP DesignJet 510 plotter out of storage. That's when the trouble started. The drivers installed on the computers without any issues, but the plotter keeps displaying a system memory error. We've tried everything we know, but nothing works. I found a complete service manual at https://manualmachine.com that seems to have a section on "Service Tests and Utilities." Has anyone used the ManualMachine instructions for this type of office equipment before? Can you find instructions on how to reset these counters, or is it better to call a technician?

Listen, don't even think about calling a technician until you've tried to follow the instructions in the manual yourself! I once "revived" an office MFP this way, and the service manual from that website was a lifesaver—it usually lists key combinations that aren't mentioned in standard user guides. With HP, for example, you often have to hold down "OK" and "Back" while turning it on. If ManualMachine has an engineer's manual, it definitely has a step-by-step guide on how to clear a memory error. The main thing is, don't change the voltage settings on the heads if you're not sure. Have you found the "Service Mode" section yet? Sometimes it's hidden in the middle of the technical diagrams. Let us know later if the combination worked because these old workhorses can still compete with newer models!
